This is the largest Western Australian tourism region,
incorporating much of the vast interior of the stare, as well as the
dazzling southern coastline along the Great Australian Bight. It gets it's
name not just from the fascinating
Goldfields
of Kalgoorlie ,
Historic
Leonora and Gwalia and the
Laverton area, but also from the golden beaches and amazing coastline of
Esperance
and the
Hopetoun - Ravensthorpe area. The golden wheat field's of Merredin and the
Wheatbelt as well as the internationally renowned carpets of wildflowers
(golden and otherwise) that pop up all over the region each spring. The Pioneers’
Pathway is a new self-drive route that traverses the Wheatbelt
following the well worn trail many prospectors once took on their way to
the Yilgarn and Kalgoorlie Goldfields. Wave Rock is in
this region, as are many adventure drives, such as the Outback Highway.
From Norseman,
the Eyre Highway leads you to the Nullabor Plain, and worlds longest golf
course, the
Nullarbor Links. This 18-hole par 72 golf course will span
1,365 kilometers with one hole in each participating town or roadhouse
along the Eyre Highway, from Kalgoorlie in Western Australia to Ceduna
in South Australia. Each hole includes a green and tee and somewhat
rugged outback-style natural terrain fairway. The course would provide a
quintessential Australian experience and a much-needed
activity/attraction for travelers along the renowned desolate highway.
The Golden
Outback is a big Australian experience. You can stay at high class hotels
or at some Special
Interest Accommodation from
small friendly B&B or
Farmstays to
Pet Friendly properties and many
more. The official website is at Australia's
